Boris Bidjan Saberi‘s Spring Summer 2011 collection was inspired by carpentry and craftsmanship. The idea
of creating physical, practical forms by hand and with passion is what the label is all about. A continuous influence is hip-hop and urban culture, and Saberi mixes high fashion men‘s wear and well-executed tailoring with relaxed pieces, such as low-slung pants. The collection contains signature Saberi looks, such as layered fabrics, asymmetric cuts, loose fits and intricate tailoring. He works largely with a palette of blacks, charcoal and pale greys for an industrial, working-man feel, creams and dirty white also appear in this collection. Saberi continues to challenge and deconstruct the male body with very precise and complex cuts. All fabrics, including glued ‚double fabrics‘ and wax-resinated twills are made by Boris Bidjan Saberi. The new finishes this season included object dying in cold and mud washing; other fabric treatments include object pressing, waxing and oiling.
One of the highlights of the collection is a radically new type of transparent leather, which Saberi himself invented whilst working with hairless sheepskin and cow hides. Used to create jackets, trousers and shoes in this collection, this slick see through leather will transform the way this natural material is traditionally viewed.
